2004 Porsche Title Challengers Return for Club Championship Action

12th March 2010

Peter Morris and Richard Lambert, both former class champions and the 2004 title challengers, have signed to challenge for Class One and outright honours in the 2010 Porsche Club Championship. Morris was Class One champion in 2004, while Lambert won dominated Class Two and took the overall title at the end of the season.

Morris has been a long term supporter of Porsche Club GB’s race activities, having made his race debut with the club, and now supports the series through his PMC Midlands Ltd building company – and puts up a trophy for the final round of each season. Having raced in national GTs, Towcester-based Morris returned to Porsche Club racing in the final two meetings of 2009, testing a newly built-up 968CS in preparation for his 2010 assault.

“I’m really looking forward to the season,“ says 50-year-old Morris. “The Porsche Club is really competitive value for money racing where you can race hard in a friendly environment. We tested the car at Silverstone and were pleased with the times and it felt good, so I am looking forward to the first race.”

Lambert returned to Porsche Club action in 2009 with a 964 C2 he imported from the US. Run by Jaz Motorsport, last season Lambert did selected races in his new mount, and now the St Albans racer is chasing his first ever outright victory, having come close to an overall win several times in his Class Two career.

“We have a new baby so it will be a limited season for me,” says Lambert, “and our first race will be at Zolder. I’ve never been there before so that will be new for me, and we will try to do as many rounds as possible.”

The 2010 Porsche Club Championship will be contested over 15-rounds at the countries leading circuit, and includes a visit to the Zolder circuit in Belgium in May. Opening round is at Brands Hatch on April 10th. At most rounds the series is joined by the Porsche Club’s new series – the Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge.
