Another double for George Russell
6th August 2012
Double European Champion, George Russell, enjoyed a successful weekend at the Glan-y-Gors circuit in north Wales this weekend, taking a double victory at the fourth round of the MSA British Championship.
Russell was undoubtedly on dominant form, taking a clean sweep of timed qualifying pole, two heat wins and two final wins to extend his title lead over nearest rival Alex Gill. The event was held in extremely changeable conditions, with the first of the two heats being run with slick tyres on a wet track, but that couldn't ruffle Russell as he made it six final wins from eight races in the British series in 2012. Team chief Jamie Croxford said: "George was very strong all weekend and his Intrepid chassis and his equipment worked very well. We've still got a lot of work to do to stay at the front but we're still on course for the title."
Russell said It was a great weekend in Wales and I really enjoyed the challenge of driving on slicks in the rain in the first heat. The weather was very changeable but the team worked hard, the equipment was good and I pushed hard to gain maximum points. Thanks to everyone who supported me, especially Forza Racing, my mechanic, Shane McFadden, Ole Haggard (One Engines) and Freem for my new suits.
George heads to Zuera (Spain) this weekend for the final round of the WSK Euro Series.
