Aston Martin Works show revived DB5 at Goodwood

A fully restored Aston Martin DB5 and a barn-find DB6 which awaits treatment will provide a before and after glimpse of the creative talents of the craftsmen of Aston Martin Works at the Goodwood Revival.
The two cars will form the centrepiece of the Aston Martin Works display at the UKs foremost classic car motorsport event, which takes place at the Goodwood Motor Circuit over the weekend of 14-16 September 2012.
The DB5 has just emerged from a 14-month ground-up restoration in the Newport Pagnell workshops of Aston Martin Works, and is due to be returned to its delighted Japanese owner in a few weeks. The DB5 has been painstakingly rebuilt and enhanced to the customers specifications to emerge as a shining example of the breed. It is the first restored Aston Martin to carry the Works coachbuilder emblem on its flanks.
We are extremely proud of this restoration, said General Manager Graham Darby, and we are delighted that the DB5s owner has agreed to let us show off its many fine points at the Goodwood Revival, and allow us to showcase the talents of our craftsmen and what they can achieve.
As a counterpoint to the restored DB5 we will be displaying alongside it a barn-find DB6 which we plan to restore to a similar level of perfection. We think it will be fascinating for visitors to see what can be achieved from a very modest starting point.
Visitors to the stand (28/29 in the Revival Market, adjacent to Gate 1) will be able to collect a limited edition Aston Martin Works lapel badge. Just 500 are available and will be offered to earlybirds on each day of the meeting.
Graham Darby and other staff, including Heritage Department Manager Nigel Woodward and Heritage Reception Engineer Kevin Moore, will be on hand to discuss the firms restoration, repair and service facilities, and to offer technical and buying advice.
The Goodwood Revival meeting will feature 16 races for sports cars and single-seaters, including many Aston Martins, dating from motorsports golden era.
