Audi DTM exhibition in Ingolstadt

13th August 2012

Ingolstadt, August 12, 2012 - Not only DTM fans of the Audi brand will have a great time in the Audi museum mobile from this Wednesday.

DTM to enjoy: away from the dynamic and limitations of race weekends, DTM fans are very welcome to bring along an extra portion of time when they visit Ingolstadt. At the Audi museum mobile between August 15 and October 31 the DTM exhibition ‘Good Times’ rekindles memories of more than 20 years of DTM. There are many marvelous exhibits to be admired from the Audi V8 quattro, with which the brand won its first Deutsche Tourenwagen Meisterschaft (DTM) title in 1990, via the Abt-Audi TT-R to the various A4 DTM championship winning cars from recent history. The race cars from various Audi competitors can also be seen at the exhibition. A special children’s program with quizzes and pit stops was developed for the brand’s youngest fans. Accompanying the exhibition opening next Tuesday evening are Head of Audi Motorsport Dr. Wolfgang Ullrich, the two-time DTM title holder Timo Scheider, Audi’s first DTM Champion Hans-Joachim Stuck and Dieter Basche the Head of Audi Motorsport at that time.

Exclusive for loyal fans: Marcel Fässler dreamt up a unique attraction for his fan club after taking his second Le Mans victory. The Swiss Audi works driver presented his fans in his local community a completely unique cinema program. This coming Thursday the film ‘Truth in 24 II’ can be enjoyed in full cinematographic quality. The documentary film portrays the first Le Mans victory for Fässler and his team mates André Lotterer and Benoît Tréluyer in 2011.

Meeting with the media: Miguel Molina advertises for the DTM race at the Nürburgring in press conference staged by the organizers. The Spanish Audi works driver is guest in Cologne at the Kennedy-Ufer on Tuesday from 11:00.

Demanding maiden voyage: Marcel Fässler christened his present from Michelin. Audi’s tire partner presented the Swiss driver with a high-quality Scott racing cycle in June for the Le Mans victory. The Audi works driver conquered the Pragelpass, which connects the Cantons Glarus and Schwyz, in his homeland on Saturday. On the journey between Sattelegg and Ibergergegg the athletic Swiss overcame a distance of 120 kilometers and around 2,500 meters altitude difference.

A word from ... Benoît Tréluyer

You’ve had a little time since Le Mans to think about your second win. What aspect of the 2012 season will you remember the best?
It was once again a fantastically exciting battle. Even though there wasn’t a strong external opponent running to the end of the race the internal competition was a great incentive. So, the race was extremely tough for us. At the end it was a fantastic victory for the Audi R18 e-tron quattro. I enjoyed the summer in the Provence while my two team mates drove in other races.

The next tasks loom on the horizon. You are currently lying second in the FIA Endurance World Championship (WEC); the toughest opponents come from within your own team. Do you expect a battle all the way to the finale?
Absolutely, fans of endurance motor racing can look forward to a thrilling battle. The championship is still wide open, at Le Mans the drivers in car numbers 1 and 2 staged a battle for victory for a long time, and in the WEC season up to now three different Audi driver line-ups have won. So, anything is possible.

You are in your third season at Audi, mounted the podium three times in succession at Le Mans of which two were victories. What do you like the most about this brand?
Motorsport is a fixed part of the company’s culture. It’s fantastic to see that our performances are a fixed component of the brand and its image and that we help engineers to develop technology for the future.
