Daly Joins Uhrhane At Double R For Masters Of F3
13th July 2012
Highly-rated American driver Conor Daly will join Double R Racing for the RTL GP Masters of Formula 3 event at Zandvoort in The Netherlands this weekend, 14th/15th July, where he will partner team regular Geoff Uhrhane for Europes blue riband F3 race meeting.
Daly, the 20-year-old son of former FIA Formula One World Championship and Indycar racer Derek, is currently sixth overall in the GP3 Series driver standings with one win to his credit from the second round of the season at the Circuit de Catalunya in Spain.
This weekends outing in one of Double Rs Dallara-Mercedes cars will mark the Americans maiden run in Formula 3 and will come straight off the back of his second data aero-mapping test with the Sahara Force India F1 Team which is taking place at Duxford Aerodrome today, Thursday, 12th July.
Conors a great name to have out there in the Masters this weekend and we're absolutely delighted to be running him alongside Geoff, said Double R Racing team principal Anthony 'Boyo' Hieatt, Its going to be great working with Conor, weve known about him a long time and almost did a deal a couple of years ago.
From his F1 test with Force India today, hell be heading down to us at Woking and then we drive straight across to Zandvoort ready for the practice there tomorrow. Hopefully well all have a good weekend, were sure Conors going to do a great job.
Double R regular Geoff Uhrhane, who is midway through his maiden season of Formula 3 racing in the Cooper Tires British F3 International Series, achieved his best result of the year so far last time out at the Norisring street circuit in Germany and is currently 12th in the title race.
Claiming a superb top four result in round 15 of the championship, which is also the teams best finish of 2012, the 21-year-old from Queensland in Australia starred in scorching hot conditions and also added an eighth place in round 16 to mark his strongest weekend yet in F3.
Geoffs been improving bit by bit all season and the extra running the Masters will give him will be important, added Hieatt, Time in the car is what he needs to help his development as an F3 driver so it'll be great for him to be competing alongside the European series guys again as well as the ones from British F3. Norisring went really well for Geoff and hopefully Zandvoort can be just as strong.
Two practice sessions at Zandvoort are scheduled for tomorrow, Friday, 13th July, with qualifying taking place on Saturday, 14th July, at 11.45 (local time) and 15.40 (local time). On Sunday, 15th July, the RTL GP Masters of Formula 3 race itself will get underway at 14.00 (local time).
