Fast laps for local charity at Croft in National Motorsport Week

Croft Circuit will join the likes of Britain’s Formula 1 teams such as Red Bull, McLaren and Williams in celebrating National Motorsport Week (30 June-8 July).

Hot off the back of its big Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship meeting, the North Yorkshire venue is inviting the public to take part in high-speed passenger laps around its daunting 2.3 mile track next Thursday 5 July.

For just £5 per ride, passengers (who must be a minimum of 14 years old) will be given an exhilarating experience in a variety of competition machinery, including cars from the Darlington & District Motor Club’s hotly contested Northern Saloon & Sports Car Championship.

Money raised will go to Croft’s chosen charity, St Teresa’s Hospice in Darlington.

All eight of the UK’s F1 teams and many other motor racing venues and companies across the country – from F1 tyre manufacturer Pirelli to Ford’s World Rally Championship squad M-Sport – will be taking part in National Motorsport Week with a wide variety of activities such as competitions, seminars, factory visits and experiences for public, such as the one at Croft.

Croft Circuit Manager Tracey Morley commented: “National Motorsport Week is a major opportunity for the UK to shout about its reputation as a world leader in all things motor sport. The UK is second to none in motor sport innovation, design and engineering and also boasts the best officials, marshals, circuits and teams at club, national, international and world level.

“Croft is very proud to be supporting National Motorsport Week and hope that what we have lined up is an exciting addition to the many activities taking part up and down the land. All we ask is that visitors make a relatively small donation towards St Teresa’s Hospice in return for a few fast laps around our track which of course produced three stunning British Touring Car races last weekend. We look forward to seeing everyone who attends next Tuesday.”
