Round six of the Maxxis ACU British Motocross Championship takes place next weekend at the stunning Hawkstone Park venue - 29th July. Both the MX1 Championship and MX2 Championships are extremely close and with only two rounds left after Hawkstone both Championships are still all to play for.
Recent winner of the World MX GP in Latvia Kevin Strijbos leads the MX1 Championship for the HM Plant KTM Team, he had a five point lead from now injured Matiss Karro, Karro will miss the Hawkstone Park race as he recovers from his back injuries he sustained. 36 points behind Strijbos is Scotsman Shaun Simpson who will be eager to close the points gap with Karro out. Fourth in the series is Gert Krestinov and fifth is fans favourite Stephen Sword.
In the MX2 Championship HM Plant KTM rider Elliott Banks-Browne leads the series by eight points from Monster Energy Bike-It Dixon Yamaha's Mel Pocock. Whilst they have a large points lead it is tight for third, fourth and fifth in the series with Steven Lenior, Neville Bradshaw and Bryan Mackenzie fighting it out between themselves. Mackenzie will race under his own banner at Hawkstone after parting company with the Rockstar Moto-One KTM team.
Round 6 of the Maxxis ACU British Championship also features the second round of both the British Veterans Championship and the MXY85 class. In the Veterans Class Phil Mercer currently leads the Championship following the opening round at FatCat, reigning Champion Greg Hanson currently sits second ahead of Gary Hoptrough in third. The MXY85 held its opening round at Milton Park and after some fantastic racing it was Will Keogh who took the overall win ahead of Todd Kellett and Jordan Eccles.
