Meadows and Geddie get Monaco Supercup entry

Michael Meadows and Glynn Geddie will take time out of their 2012 Porsche Carrera Cup GB campaigns to compete at the most famous race track in the world during the Monaco Grand Prix weekend. The Redline Racing duo will contest the Porsche Mobil1 Supercup race around the streets of Monte Carlo on the morning of the Monaco Grand Prix (Sunday 27 May).
 
Taking advantage of a break in the Carrera Cup calendar, Meadows, Geddie and Redline Racing will join the grid for the most prestigious race of the season. Both drivers are hoping to take in more Supercup races later in the season around their commitment to the Carrera Cup GB, where Meadows currently leads the standings by 29 points.
 
“It's very exciting to be racing at the most prestigious event in motor sport,” said Meadows.” I don't have any knowledge of the track but our engineer has a good record there and this will help immensely. Only a few people get to race at Monaco and the aim is to go there and do the best job we can, so that we have the knowledge for what will hopefully be a full Supercup campaign in 2013.
 
“I enjoy the challenge of learning new tracks quickly,” continued Meadows. “We are there to be competitive, and we’re not just doing it for the sake of being at Monaco. It is the best chance we have to show where we stand amongst the best Porsche drivers. Redline has experience of the Supercup and we will need to put that to good use.”
 
Geddie has raced at Monaco before, as he contested the Supercup race there in 2009. “There's little doubt that being around different teams and drivers at Supercup level can only help to further my development,” said Geddie. “I was fortunate enough to take part in the Supercup race at Monaco in 2009 which was something I thoroughly enjoyed. I was only 18 back then and eventually brought the car home in 15th position.”
 
Team boss Simon Leonard is thrilled at entering the Monaco race in conjunction with Porsche Cars GB. “It’s a big challenge for both of them,” said Leonard. “It’s a hard circuit to learn, but it will be a great experience for the drivers and the team.”
