Muscle Milk Pickett Racing claims fifth pole of ALMS season

18th August 2012

Muscle Milk Pickett Racing picked up their fifth American Le Mans Series pole position of the season on Friday during qualifying for tomorrow's Road America Road Race Showcase.

Klaus Graf, who was on qualifying duty for Round 7 of the 2012 season, posted a fastest lap of one minute 50.191 seconds on his second timed lap around the 4.048-mile 14-turn road course.

The Muscle Milk Pickett Racing team didn't face much competition in the 15-minute session as the #16 Dyson car was sidelined with mechanical woes and didn't partake in qualifying.

Graf's best time was 3.2 seconds faster than the second place #20 Dyson car.

The pole position was also the third consecutive one for the Greg Pickett-led team. The Muscle Milk squad will be back in action Saturday morning at 10:30 a.m. ET for the warm up session.

The Road America Road Race Showcase goes green on Saturday, August 18 at 3:30 p.m. ET and will be streamed live on ESPN3.com. The race will be broadcast on tape delay on ESPN2 on Sunday, August 19 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. ET.

Muscle Milk Quotes

Klaus Graf, #6 Muscle Milk HPD ARX-03a
"We always want to compete at the best level and at our own standards so we don't really look at the competition. If you win five races in a row it's easy to lose focus a bit, but our team won't allow us to do that. The team has grown a lot in the last couple years and it is getting better and better and we're always very competitive.
"Lucas and I are also very competitive against each. We have a lot of respect for each other and there is no ego involved, it's a very healthy relationship but we all want to go out and do the best job we can.
"The #16 car wasn't out today, so that was unfortunate, but we still went out and tried to do the perfect lap. The lap was very good and we could've done more laps if we had to, but there was no point in doing that. We were pleased with the performance of the car."
