HSCC Guards Trophy.
The weather played a major part in both the qualifying and race conditions of this event on Sunday. Qualifying took place with 3 laps behind the pace car as the rain and spray on track was so bad as to hamper visibility By the time the race then commenced, the rain had cleared but the autumnal sunshine, being very low on the horizon made conditions just as hazardous. With this lovely car currently being up for sale, Malcolm took the wise decision not to continue to the end of the race and retired. Details of the Corvette can be found on the RW Racing Services web link below.
Goodwood Revival Meeting - September 19 – 21 2008.
A beautiful weekend. Well organised as usual.
The beautiful AC Cobra of Miguel Amaral attended the meeting, being driven by our regular driving professional, Barrie Williams and seasoned racer, Nick Wigley. Mr Amaral was unable to attend the meeting due to prior commitements, but was happy for Barrie and Nick to show the car in the prestigious TT race.
The car qualified well, in 6th position, leaving the prospect of a good race wide open. Unfortunately, at some point another vehicle appears to have deposited an amount of oil on the track at Madgwick corner, which, as warning flags were sadly lacking, caught Barrie unawares, causing the Cobra to spin and crash spectacularly into the tyres wall.
The car had only recently undergone substantial repairs after hitting the wall head on at Spa the previous year. Now it faces another major repair as damage is quite significant.
