Race winner Charlie Robertson Going All Out For Snetterton Ginetta Junior Success
6th August 2012
Teenage motor racing star Charlie Robertson is aiming for a return to winning ways at Snetterton in Norfolk next weekend, 11th/12th August, when the second half of the Ginetta Junior Championship gets underway with rounds 11 and 12 of the season.
Seven long weeks since the previous event at Croft in North Yorkshire, the Whyteleafe 15-year-old is itching to get back behind the wheel of his HHC Motorsport-run Ginetta G40 and fully focused on kick-starting his title bid after encountering some misfortune over the first five race meetings.
Even with some bad luck though, including a non-score at Donington Park after being shunted out of round four, Charlie is still only 21 points shy of the series lead in third place in the standings and has three race victories to his credit including a memorable and utterly dominant double at Thruxton.
Two podiums last time out at Croft consolidated the Investigo and Ria Capital Markets-supported drivers top three championship placing. But its the series lead hes determined to wrest back as soon as possible, having led the way after rounds five and six at the end of April.
I really cant wait to be back racing at Snetterton, said the MSA Academy driver, Its been ages since Croft but in the break Ive had chance to enjoy a holiday, fully recharge my batteries and do a lot of training as well.
Im determined to try and get the lead of the championship back as soon as possible, it might not be possible next weekend but hopefully well be able to close the gap with a couple of big results. I want two wins really, thats what Im going all-out for, but as long as we can score consistently good points Ill be happy as theres still a long way to go with 10 races remaining.
Charlie has proven pedigree at Snettertons 2.97-mile 300 Circuit having won two races there last November during the Ginetta Junior Winter Series. He also secured a podium at the East Anglian track on his first visit there during the main season earlier in 2011 his maiden year of car racing.
Weve always gone well on the 300 Circuit and theres no reason at all we shouldnt be fast there again next weekend, added the Caterham School pupil, The guys at HHC have given me a great car all season, weve had some bad luck along the way but we know we have a great chance to get back on the top step of the podium at Snetterton.
Official testing for the Ginetta Junior Championship runners will take place next Friday, 10th August, with an additional free practice and qualifying following on Saturday, 11th August. Round 11 of the season will get underway at 11.10 on Sunday, 12th August, with round 12 following at 17.50. Check listings for details of television coverage on ITV4 and ITV4 HD and at com/btcc
