Racecar and Platinum Insurance

Insuring your road and racecars is a real drag - in that you are paying for a service annually that you hope you won't have to use. If you do have to use it - you want reassurance that you have good cover - and also you need to deal with a broker who understands your requirements and place your business with the right company.

I have an eclectic mix of vehicles which were insured by about 3 different companies - which was an administrative nightmare plus I was not getting the recognition in reduced premiums I expected due to the fact I clearly do not drive all the vehicles at once.

Equally I found it frustrating that the company that insured one of the cars for whizzing into the village would not insure or appear to understand the nature of my modified vehicles.

A recommendation from a friend in the trade who has placed a lot of business their way was all I needed - and one quick phone call later and it's all sorted. So now for insuring the old bangers below - I deal with one company. My premiums also dropped significantly! Importantly they are enthusiasts - and make the whole process hassle free.

Cars which they sorted cover on:

BMW M3 Evo - work car
BMW E30 track car - heavily modified/full cage/standalone engine management etc etc
Caterham 7 with cosworth bdg engine
Merc 300TE - tow car + hound transport
Golf 1.3 - spare hound transport

Platinum Insurance Solutions usually specialise in the heavier end of the market - and probably have insured more Ferrari Enzos than anyone else - so my old junk is not a problem - but it is handy to know if I do win the lottery and need rapid insurance on an Alfa Romeo tipo 33 Stradale or a Lancia Stratos - these guys won't be phased...
