29th December 2006
You have to admire Paul Smith's relentless energy in pursuing the holy grail of getting speeding laws reviewed - here's his latest PR:

South Yorkshire Police pleaded guilty today in relation to a speeding charge on a Police car driven by an unknown driver.
Commenting on the case, Paul Smith, founder of the Safe Speed road safety campaign (www.safespeed.org.uk) said: "The laws on speeding are being enforced to an absurd degree that criminalises everyone - including the Police."
"How of any of us supposed to have confidence in a law that is so widely broken? If we end up in court charged with speeding, we can be absolutely certain that the magistrates, the clerk of the court, the CPS prosecutor and police witnesses are all guilty of breaking exactly the same law that we are accused of breaking. How barking is that?"
"The real problem is the damage that is being done to respect for the law and respect for the Police. Can't they see how completely stupid they look?"
