WOLVERHAMPTON have signed talented teenager Jacob Thorssell to replace injury victim Pontus Aspgren.
Thorssell will make his debut at reserve in Monday’s clash with Elite League leaders Poole at Monmore Green, having completed some vital laps in the Gary Peterson Memorial Meeting last month.
Club owner Chris Van Straaten said: “Jacob showed great determination and put in a lot of effort in that meeting and he has been earmarked for a place here, but not quite this soon.
“He’s only 18 with a bright future in the sport and although we’re bringing him in sooner than expected he’s very excited about this opportunity.”

NEWCASTLE put themselves firmly in the race for League Cup qualification with a thumping 58-37 win at Redcar on Thursday.
The Diamonds are now second in their group with one match to come, having dominated at the South Tees Motor Park with four riders in double figures led by Stuart Robson (11+2).
Manager George English said: “This is getting to more what we know we’re capable of when the whole team clicks together and the Bears found out to their cost in what was nothing short of a remarkable win.
“Now we need to keep this momentum up in the league matches and Friday at Edinburgh is the best place to start.”

LEICESTER boss Glyn Taylor is calling on his side to show their true colours after a heavy defeat at Newcastle last weekend.
The Lions are back on home territory on Saturday with a home Premier League clash against Plymouth, who ran them close in the League Cup earlier in the season.
Taylor said: “We have seen at close quarters what they are capable of away from home and we all have to be on our game to get something out of the fixture. When you consider that Ben Barker and Ryan Fisher are easily capable of 25 points between them, this means that their five team-mates do not have to contribute a great deal to pull off a win.
“This is the challenge that we face on Saturday and I will be looking to our three heat leaders, Kauko Nieminen, Magnus Karlsson and Lasse Bjerre to take points off their top two riders.”
