ELITE League champions Wolverhampton are celebrating two more awards at the turn of the year.

The Speedway Riders’ Association Awards have been announced and the Parrys International Wolves have added Track of the Season and Elite League Rider of the Year to their impressive list of honours.

It’s another major honour for Monmore track chief Alan Bridgett who has also enjoyed success with Edinburgh.

Wolverhampton edged out Scunthorpe with Swindon in third place in the honours list as voted for by meeting referees.
And Freddie Lindgren, who is back with Wolves for the defence of their title in March, was voted the Elite League’s top rider ahead of Poole’s Chris Holder and Eddie Kennett at Coventry.

Wolverhampton owner Chris Van Straaten said: “We are absolutely proud and honoured to have won these awards and credit must again go to ‘Doc’ Bridgett and his track staff. They consistently provide a racing surface which provides the most exciting racing in the country.
“And we’re delighted for Freddie, he was literally the top man in the league last season and certainly took his career up to the next level.”
The club and Lindgren will be handed their awards at the open day for Parrys International, the club sponsors, on Sunday, January 10.
King’s Lynn’s Australian sensation Darcy Ward won the Premier League Rider of the Year in his debut campaign ahead of Stoke’s Jason Bunyan and David Howe of Scunthorpe.

And Plymouth ace Kyle Hughes has been revealed as the National League’s top man ahead of Isle of Wight star Nick Simmons and Craig Cook of Buxton.

ON behalf of the British Speedway Promoters' Assocation we would like to wish all our friends in the media a very happy and prosperous New Year. Many thanks for your support throughout 2009.
