Starrantino and Eidson Excel at Le Circuit Mont Tremblant

 for Rounds 5 & 6 of the Skip Barber Racing School Presents the Mazda Summer Series

The Skip Barber Racing School presents the 2012 Mazda Summer Series for Skip Barber Formula Rounds 5 and 6 at the acclaimed Le Circuit Mont Tremblant. Adrian Starrantino earned his first and second win in the Skip Barber Summer Series in Group 1 action. Jake Eidson also had an outstanding showing by capturing four first place finishes on the weekend. The MAZDASPEED Challenge of the Mazda Summer Series did not run at Mont Tremblant.

Starting second, Adrian Starrantino moved into first on the opening lap. Racing was tight and in-line through the second lap as Starrantino, Jack Mitchell, Jr., and Tristan DeGand broke away from the pack. Mitchell flirted with the lead on the third lap, but Starrantino took it back. His lead extended as Mitchell and DeGrand battled for second. DeGrand eventually established himself in second and attempted to track down Starrantino. As the laps dwindled, DeGrand closed the gap but ran out of time as Adrian Starrantino captured his first win of the season followed by Tristan DeGrand and Jack Mitchell Jr. taking 3rd place honors.

Adrian Starrantino took the lead at the start with Jack Mitchell, Jr. and Tristand DeGrand close behind as they built a little gap over the pack. Mitchell and Starrantino battled for first place in the opening laps. After losing the lead for a moment Starrantino overtook Mitchell and opened up a comfortable gap. Mitchell and DeGrand fought for second and third. Greg Strelzoff caught up and pushed them for a few laps. With the battle in front, Matt McMurry was able to catch the group and had heated battle with Adrian Starrantino won again sweeping both group 1 races followed by Jack Mitchell, Jr. and Tristan DeGrand.

Group 2, Race 1 Skip Barber Presents the Mazda Summer Series, Skip Barber Formula

Jake Eidson took the lead right from the start with Greg Strelzoff and Matt McMurry chasing. By the middle of the race, Nick Silva worked his way up the pack battling for second. Strelzoff, McMurry and Silva all battled in a tight group that included Andrew Longe for most of the race. Their battle allowed Eidson to put some space between the pack. Jake Eidson won with Greg Strelzoff in second and Nick Silva in third.

Jake Eidson started in the lead closely challenged by Greg. A caution on the second lap bunched the field back up, A lap after the restart, Longe is able to work his way up and take a short stint in the lead. Eidson retook the lead and never looked back. Longe finished a solid second and held off Strelzoff who finishes third.

 Group 3, Race 1 Skip Barber Presents the Mazda Summer Series, Skip Barber Formula

Jake Eidson began in the lead followed Jack Mitchell, Jr., Brian Cook, Greg Holloway, and Andrew Hobbs. Eidson and Mitchell begin to pull away from the group with Hobbs chasing. Mitchell and Eidson continued to battle for the lead throughout the day. Clark Toppe was the biggest mover of the race starting in 8th and batting his was way up to 4Th just one position off a podium finish.  Mitchell and Eidson ran a clean but tight race. Mitchell was able to capture fastest lap but unfortunately was unable to get around Eidson.  To the strip, Jake Eidson was able to hold off Jack Mitchell with Brian Cook taking 3rd.

Jake Eidson started the last race of the day on pole with Jack Mitchell Jr. and Brian Cook lurking behind.  It was good clean race as Eidson and Mitchell picked up where they left off. Both ran fantastic races. Towards the mid pack, Clark Toppe ran nose to tail with Brian Cook trying to pressure him into a mistake. After a mechanical DNF in race 1 that placed Andrew Hobbs at the rear of the field for race two, he was able to show off his speed and ended up moving into the 3rd place.  As laps ticked away, Eidson held on a comfortable lead over Mitchell with Andrew Hobbs taking third podium in the last race of the day.
