Stoner's sponsor Red Bull joins V8 Supercars team

6th August 2012

V8 Supercars team Triple Eight Race Engineering has announced a new title sponsorship deal with Red Bull following an end to the Australian motorsports outfit's six-year partnership with Vodafone.

The agreement's confirmation has stoked further rumours that 2011 MotoGP world champion Casey Stoner will shortly announce a move to Triple Eight and V8 Supercars. Stoner has previously expressed a desire to switch to four-wheeled racing, tested V8s in the past, been spotted in Triple Eight's garages at previous V8 events and Red Bull is a personal sponsor of his.

"We are thrilled by the prospect of Red Bull becoming our naming rights partner from 2013 and are confident that the deal will be finalised in the coming weeks," said Triple Eight managing director Roland Dane.

Red Bull Australia managing director Jason Sargent added, "Given Red Bull's successful history in motorsports, we are very excited to form a partnership with Australia's leading motorsport team."
