Derek Chinn Precision Engineering has been established
since 1980. Before that time Derek, along with Ian Messenger and Mick
Butler constructed motorcycles which were sprinted and drag raced throughout
the 1960s and 70s. The team used Vincent and Norton Power
engines fitted to Pegasus machines which
were raced at Duxford, Bassingborne, Wroughton, Elvington, North Luffenham,
Santa Pod and throughout Europe and the USA.
Derek Chinn is a small engineering firm which initially
specialised in repairs to engine components and to supercharger rebuilds
for classic cars, motorcycles and drag racers - all makes including
- Marshall, Shorocks, Cozete, Wade and Zoller. In 1981 the company
started manufacturing DC Superchargers which have
been fitted to a wide range of vehicles including a 1928 Alvis FWD,
Yamaha Genesis engine (Hill Climb Car), Lagonda Rapiar and Rover V8
Engines We have fitted a Marshall K400 supercharger to an Armstrong
Siddley and 2 off Superchargers to 2000cc Harman engine (Harley Davidson)
Our Superchargers are fitted to various
classic cars in the Vintage Sports Car Club Riley - MG - MG K3 - Amilcar
- Lagonda. Derek Chinn specialise in pre-war Alta engines and superchargers
along with Supercharger Installation and Blower Drive Couplings. We
also manufacture Maserati, Alfa, ERA, Bugatti type 35, MG K3, MG Z75
& Z100 Superchargers as well as Vincent engine components and
engine modifications.
Additional work undertaken includes
the manufacture of Bugatti Steering arms, brake pedals and related components.
