Hard to find standard parts
During the build of the BTB Carlton, I discovered that certain standard
Lotus Carlton parts were hard to source from Vauxhall dealers. Not
only have GM only authorised the sale of specific Lotus parts (90393….
prefixed part numbers) through official "Lotus Carlton Dealers", but
those parts that are available (many are now No Longer Serviced) are
priced at supercar levels. Sadly some of the dealers are no longer
in business, and those that are tend not to be either knowledgeable
or concerned about 10 year old cars. Detailed below are a selection
of genuine parts at discount prices for Lotus Carlton

Brake pads
The Lotus Carlton/Omega uses AP Racing calipers and discs front and
rear. This means that pads are widely available in various racing
compounds for less than retail Vauxhall prices. However the standard
pad material was selected for its durability under varying conditions,
and also has thicker friction material than most "racing" pads. In
addition, it also has provision on the backing plate for the wear
indicator, which serves a vital safety function on a performance car
like this. Now available at a more affordable price the BTB car successfully
uses these pads for track days at track days on punishing circuits
such as Donington Park. A change of brake fluid to Castrol SRF is
highly recommended though.
Clutch
The clutch and particularly its associated release mechanism is a
well known weak point on the Lotus Carlton/Omega. As well as sourcing
standard clutch parts at discount prices, Agamemnon offer a triple
plate Super clutch, which couples with a hydraulic release
bearing (that pushes directly from the front of the gearbox), and
a lightweight billet steel flywheel. This is a cure all solution to
clutch problems, and is designed for the dedicated track day enthusiast
keen to reliably harness all of his cars enormous power.
Stainless Steel Exhaust System for Lotus Carlton
BTB Exhausts have especially developed this system for the Lotus Carlton.
It is designed to fit from the catalysts back to the standard cast
tailpipe. It features double skinned silencers for additional refinement,
and twin 63mm CNC mandrel bent pipes for improved flow.
