About Enrico
Enrico Zanarini is recognised as a specialist in driver management, and somewhat of a sponsorship guru.
He began his career in driver management in the early 1970’s while working as marketing director for Alfa Romeo in Australia. He began managing some of the drivers in its touring car team, among them Alan Jones, Colin Bond and Tim Shencken.
Enrico decided to pursue driver management full time, and after relocating to Europe, began working with drivers in F3 and F3000.
It was in 1994 that Enrico began his nine-year relationship with Eddie Irvine, who at the time was driving for the Jordan F1 team. He began helping him on a commercial level, before taking up a full time management role in 1996, after supporting Irvine’s move to Ferrari.
After Irvine’s retirement in 2003, it was just six days before Enrico began managing Giancarlo Fisichella, a partnership that remains until today. He did much the same for Fisichella, steering him into a seat first at Sauber, and then at Renault, where Fisichella has been instrumental towards the team’s two F1 constructors’ championships.
In 2005, Enrico and Fisichella began a foray into team management and seeking new Italian talent by setting up a Euroseries 3000 team. The pair took the venture to the next level by joining forces with the Coloni GP2 team for 2006 to form Fisichella Motorsport International, and have been extremely successful, with race wins in GP2 and two back-to-back championships in F3000.
