| Routes
This part of our website is dedicated to routes we have found in the Chilterns. Some are well known and others have been put together by our members from their favourite pieces of local trails. We will continue to add to our library of routes and we hope you find them useful and enjoyable.
These routes are provided in Google Earth’s http://earth.google.com Keyhole Markup Language (KML) format for display in Google Earth. To visualise in Google Earth, follow these simple steps:
-
Ensure that Google Earth is installed and your PC is connected to the internet via a broadband link. (Google Earth is free for personal use and available for download at http://earth.google.com/download-earth.html);
-
Download a route by clicking one of the KML route files below to automatically run Google Earth and dynamically pan to the location of each route;
-
Click menu item ‘Tools / Play Tour’ to fly through the route in 2½D;
-
Try other tools such as map panning and zooming using the controls to the top right of the map display, turn on/off map layers such as roads, places etc. using the layer control to the bottom left of the display, and measure distance using menu item ‘Tools / Ruler’.
Please note:
-
The Google Earth routes provided are for visualisation purposes only and do not constitute route directions for navigation;
-
The quality or resolution of the aerial photography within Google Earth varies by location.
-
Google Earth is Spyware and Malware-Free.
