ISC lands $13m WRC global rights
2nd February 2009
10 years worth $1.3 million annually
ISC (International Sportsworld Communicators) has reached an agreement with the FIA that sees it secure the global media and commercial rights to the World Rally Championship (WRC), as well as being named the official promoter.
“We received significant interest in this tender but ISC, with its experience in rallying and its ambitious plans for the Championship, proved a worthy winner,“ said the FIA’s Max Mosley.
“We can now look forward with a great deal of optimism as ISC implements its comprehensive strategy for the Championship’s future.“
ISC is a subsidiary of North One Television. The company was founded by Formula One supremo Bernie Ecclestone in 1982. He maintained ownership for 18 years.
“This represents the start of a new era for the sport – a genuine opportunity for everyone involved in WRC to work together to build something special for the future,“ said Neil Duncanson, chief executive of North One.
“We are really excited about the challenge, especially reaching out to new rally fans as our media landscape morphs into the digital age.“
ISC has worked with the WRC since 1996.
